Near record heat is hitting the Central and South Coasts, with sizzling high temperatures and an increased danger of brush fires.
High pressure is creating a strong offshore flow. It means we are getting very little marine layer so there is no relief even on the coast. There is a Red Flag Warning for high fire danger in place for much of the South Coast, with gusty wind in the forecast.
The wind is expected to ease Tuesday morning. The heat wave is expected to peak Tuesday, with more onshore flow by mid-week. It’s opening the door to a cooling trend with back to average temperatures by the weekend.
