Santa Barbara County Woman Who Is Possible Kidnap Victim Spotted In Arizona

A Santa Barbara County woman believed to be the victim of a kidnapping has been spotted in Arizona.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives believe that Virginia Paris was abducted by an ex-boyfriend in Solvang Friday night. Investigators think Joseph Hetzel took the 52 year old Lompoc woman, and forced her to drive east in the woman’s car.

Sunday morning, the pair was spotted in a Goodyear, Arizona coffee shop. Paris told a woman as she was leaving a bathroom she needed help, and witnesses told police that the man saw the interaction, and grabbed Paris, and the two left. Police found the registration to the missing woman’s car in the parking lot.

Hetzel has served prison time, and investigators think he may be armed.

Friends of the Lompoc woman say she had been seeing a restraining order against the 52 year old man.
