Removal Of South Coast Tree Sets Residents Buzzing

A rotting palm tree set to be removed became a unexpectedly big problem for the crew when they came across its tenants.

Living on the top of the tree were an estimated 40,000-60,000 honey bees.

The arborists called bee removal specialists, who came in with a plan to use a vacuum to contain the bees and keep them alive.

The bee specialists used extension equipment to capture the bees and relocate them to the company's ranch, where they will eventually be released.

The tree was finally brought down at 8:30 Tuesday night.
