Federal prosecutors say they seized this phone bage and ID from a Ventura County man posing as an ICE agent

Federal prosecutors say a Ventura County man admitted impersonating an ICE agent.

Prosecutors say Farad Bell of Simi Valley entered a guilty plea to one count of false impersonation of a federal officer in connection with a 2017 incident.

Investigators say Bell was angry that a teen had already sold a guitar he wanted to buy after he found an ad for it online. They say Bell confronted the 15 year old in the parking lot of a Ventura shopping center, and displayed realistic looking identification, and a badge.

Prosecutors say the 63 year old man grabbed the teen’s cell phones, prompting witnesses to call police. Officers say Bell initially showed them the false ID, and claimed to be with ICE. They eventually arrested him. He could face federal prison, but because of a plea deal, he’s expected to be sentenced to home confinement.
