Power Utility Takes Stock As Outages Continue In Conjunction With Thomas Fire

Southern California Edison says that when the Thomas Fire broke out Monday, the company had to cut power in many areas, both due to the fire's impact on the lines and because of concerns about firefighter's safety.

Major transmission lines were affected at Lake Ventura in Santa Barbara County.

Over 100,000 customers were in the dark, similar to impact that might be felt in an earthquake.

The transmission lines have been damaged. Crews are working side by side with fire officials on an assessment plan.

Wednesday morning, 6500 customers are still without power in the fire zone.
