Phone Video Used To Apprehend Suspect In Road Violence Incident On South Coast

The California Highway Patrol has used phone video to identify, track down and arrest a man involved in a freeway shooting in Santa Barbara.

The shooting took place Monday afternoon.

Eric Morales was caught in Lompoc at his home. Police say Morales pulled out a BB gun while wearing a bandana and shot at a truck driver from Oxnard, hitting the man in the face.

The shots were fired on Highway 101.

A second person in the truck recorded the vehicle that shot at them on the freeway, and that recording was the key to the arrest.

Why the confrontation occurred remains unknown.
