Peace Heroes Walk in Conejo Valley on 15th Anniversary of 9/11

Signs of Peace Heroes

A Conejo Valley walk on Sunday honored those who died  in the September 11th terrorist attacks, and it promoted peace.

It was a walk through California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks with people holding up signs of peace heroes, who are individuals and organizations promoting nonviolent solutions to conflicts.

Organizer Shepha Vainstein said it is appropriate to hold this Peace Heroes Walk on the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

“The most beautiful way to honor the tragedy that happened to our country to take and be inspired by how we can create a better world," she said.

The 21 peace heroes include Martin Luther King, Jr. to Conejo Valley heroes like the bullying prevention program Stand Proud. Thousand Oaks Police Chief Tim Hagel walked for this organization.

“Fostering understanding of one another is the key to everything,” he said.
