Crews are continuing around the clock efforts in Santa Barbara County to clear Highway 101, and repair damaged roads and utilities in the wake of last week’s deadly flooding.
The death toll remains at 20, and searchers continue to look for three others still missing. 28 were hurt, including two still in critical condition at hospitals. Meanwhile, a center intended to provide one-stop assistance to fire and flood victims opened in Santa Barbara Wednesday.
It’s called the Local Recovery And Assistance Center. Santa Barbara County created the center in conjunction with other local, state, and federal organizations and agencies.
There are resources available on everything from applying for emergency housing, to getting help with permits to rebuild. The Center is at Calvary Chapel in Santa Barbara, and is open from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. weekdays, and 10-2 on Saturday. The address is 1 North Calle Cesar Chavez. Plans call for it ro remain in operation through February 3rd.
