One person has been confirmed dead in a plane crash on the South Coast. A light plane went down just before noon Thursday between Ventura and Santa Barbara, near Emma Wood State Beach. An eyewitness who called 911 told authorities that he saw what appeared to be parts of a plane falling from the sky. A portion of a plane was found off of Highway 101, and the Ventura Fire Department reports there is one confirmed fatality. Ventura County air units are searching the area to see if it’s possible there was a second aircraft involved in what might have been a mid-air collision.
