A new branch of the Ventura County Library is opening this weekend.

The new east side library is located in Ventura on Hill Road across from the Ventura County Government Center.

Nancy Schram, with the County Library System, says the Wright Library that was near Ventura College closed in 2009.

"Since that time, there has not been library services on the east side of Ventura. So, we're very excited and thrilled to be bringing important, vital library and literacy services back to the east side of Ventura and the residents who live there," she said.

The 5100 square foot Hill Road Library will feature traditional library hours and services including adult literacy tutoring, early childhood literacy classes, a collection of print materials and makerspace equipment like a 3D printer.

The public is invited to the library’s grand opening, which is on Sunday, December 3 from noon to 2 pm.
