New Details Released About Fatal Officer Involved Shooting In Ventura County

New details have been released about an officer involved shooting in Ventura County which left a man dead. The shooting happened April 9th, on the 100 block of East Ventura Street in Santa Paula. Investigators now say it started when a woman reported a man charged at her car armed with a knife. Officers arriving at the scene minutes later reported seeing a man standing outside of some apartments with a kitchen knife. They say when Jose Rendon charged towards one of the Santa Paula Police officers, the officer opened fire, hitting and fatally wounding the 36 year old man. Investigators now say that shortly before the shooting, Rendon had been involved in a confrontation with a roommate, and left the apartment armed with two knives. But, so far they have been unable to locate the man to learn more about what happened in the minutes before the shooting.
