Authorities say they’ve solved a mysterious agricultural theft on the Central Coast involving thousands of packets of seeds.
Someone stole more than $20,000 worth of packaged broccoli seeds from a Nipomo farm.
An employee found someone using a Facebook account under an alias trying to sell broccoli seeds. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Deputies used Facebook to set up a purchase of some of the seeds. They say when Blanca Paz Trejo met them, they checked the lot and match numbers, and discovered the matched what had been reported stolen.
The 21 year old Santa Maria woman was a former employee of the company. Trejo was arrested for possession of stolen property.
