The family of a Ventura County firefighter who died in a traffic accident while fighting a brush fire on the Central Coast is opening his memorial service to the public.

The service for Ryan Osler at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village was initially going to be private. The church can host more than 3,000 people, so representatives of the family announced today the public would be welcome at Monday’s 11 a.m. service.

Osler died September 21st, when a tanker truck being used to help fight the Canyon Fire on Vandenberg Air Force Base overturned. He had been with the Ventura County Fire Department for 18 years, and leaves behind a wife and two children.
