Man Arrested Following Rash Of Prescription Drug Overdoses In Santa Barbara County

A Santa Barbara County man is accused of being a drug dealer who supplied opioids to nine people who overdosed on the same night early this month.

The young men were at an Isla Vista home March 1st when they ingested an unknown amount of alcohol and prescription pain relievers, and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives say their investigation of the overdoses led them to Edward Caceres of Isla Vista. Because the 24 year old man was on probation for drug offenses, they were able to conduct a probation search.

They say they found hundreds of prescription pills, a large quantity of marijuana and evidence he sold drugs to the overdose victims.
