Man Armed With Knife Fatally Shot By Sheriff's Deputies In Ventura County

Investigators are still investigating the circumstances behind a fatal officer involved shooting of a Ventura County man armed with a knife.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Dusenberg Drive just after one a.m. Tuesday by a report of a traffic accident.

Deputies say they found a car had gone out of control and crashed through a fence. They say when they tried to contact the driver, he confronted them with a knife. Officers say they ordered the man to drop the knife, but he refused.

When the 26 year old man advanced towards them, they used a beanbag gun to try to stop him. They say when that failed, and the man kept advancing, they fatally shot him. His name hasn’t been released yet.
