A Santa Barbara County man was arrested after an unusual fishing expedition, because investigators say what he caught wasn’t fish, but prescription drugs in a county disposal bin.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office officials say Christian Kulbe of Santa Barbara used an improvised cord and hook to remove items from the “Operation Medicine Cabinet” bin located in front of the Sheriff’s station in Carpinteria.

A sergeant reported witnessing the 46 year old man in action removing old prescription drugs from the box early Monday morning, and arrested him.

He’s facing multiple charges ranging from possession of stolen property to possession of controlled substances.
