Machete-Wielding Man Arrested After Tense Standoff On South Coast

Santa Barbara Police spent about four hours calming down a tense situation that started with a parking lot fight witnesses said involved a man with a machete.

He was outside of an apartment complex at about 1 p.m.

When the police arrived, the main suspect would not leave his family's apartment and the SWAT team was brought in, along with their large BearCat armored unit.

The man eventually surrendered peacefully, and no force was used to bring him out.

His identity was not immediately provided, but police say he was arrested on felony parole violations and assault with a deadly weapon.
