Los Padres National Forest Supervisor Promoted To Regional Fire Management Post

The man charged with overseeing the Los Padres National Forest has been promoted to a post managing firefighting efforts on national forest land throughout the Western U.S.

Robert Baird is currently Forest Supervisor on the Los Padres National Forest. He’s held that post since 2014. Before that, Baird was Deputy National Fire Director for the agency, and was based at its Washington, D.C headquarters. He spent more than two decades in the Marines, including combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Baird will start his new job as Regional Director for Fire and Aviation Management next month. There’s no word yet on who will succeed him as Supervisor of the Los Padres National Forest.
