Longtime South Coast Sportscaster Dies

A longtime radio sportscaster on the South Coast has died.

Barry Turnbull was a familiar voice on the air in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties for decades. He was a part of the news team at KVEN Radio in Ventura, which was one of the region’s dominant news/talk radio stations for years.

Turnbull went on to work for some Los Angeles newsradio stations.

He died unexpectedly this week. Turnbull was 60 years old.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
