Many people consider the YMCA as a place for families and children. But a South Coast branch will be dedicating one day this week to a different demographic.
It’s called Senior Day, and it’s at the Ventura Family YMCA where many seniors are already members.
“This is really all about making sure seniors have everything that they need,” said Executive Director Amy Bailey Jurewicz.
This is a free event that focuses on the health and wellness of seniors.
“The Y has taken on the role in the community of celebrating that day by bringing in local vendors to showcase the resources that are available for seniors,” said Jurewicz.
Sixteen vendors will take part in the Longevity Expo that includes medical, hospital, home and transportation services. Speakers will discuss “fiscal fitness” and estate planning.
Senior Day takes place on Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm at the Y in Ventura.
