Law Enforcement Leaders From Central, South Coasts Lobby For Anti-Crime Funding For Kids

A coalition of law enforcement and public safety officials from around the state, including some from the Central and South Coasts went to the State Capitol to lobby for continued funding for programs to keep kids from becoming criminals.

More than 400 people ranging from police chiefs to prosecutors met with key policymakers in Sacramento Wednesday. They were members of a non-profit, bipartisan coalition called “Fight Crime-Invest in Kids.”

Among those on hand was Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley. Coalition members are trying to get lawmakers to protect the program from funding cuts, and even expand support for it. The program targets at-risk kids with care and educational programs.
