Wednesday marks the anniversary of another grim rain related disaster on the South Coast.
It was January 10th, 2005 when a massive landslide hit the Ventura County community of La Conchita. 10 people died, and nearly three dozen homes were destroyed or damaged.
The slide happened after nearly two weeks of on and off heavy rainfall in the region.
No serious problems were reported from this week’s storm. But, there is considered to be an increased danger of problems with the mountains on the north side of the community, because the slopes were stripped bare by the recent Thomas brush fire. A report by federal geologists says that no part of the town is safe from slides.
