Investigators Think Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Santa Barbara County Was Targeted

A Santa Barbara County man has been arrested after someone was struck, and killed by a vehicle in an incident which investigators don’t think was an accident.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 5000 block of Highway 166, in the New Cuyama area just after 11 Tuesday night by reports of an injured man. They arrived to find the body of Travis John Studer.

As they investigated, they determined that there had been some type of a confrontation, and that the 41 year old man had been fatally hit by a vehicle.

Detectives identified Doug Allen Lewis of New Cuyama as a suspect. The 33 year old man was arrested on a vehicular manslaughter charge.
