Hurricane Irma isn’t just impacting the southeastern U.S.   The hurricane prompted the postponement of a planned rocket launch from Santa Barbara County.

The United Launch Alliance delayed its planned Thursday launch of an Atlas V rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The rocket was set to carry a classified military payload into orbit.

ULA officials say some key members of the launch team are from Florida, and they wanted them to be able to be with their families. Some team members also helped secure the company’s launch facilities at Cape Canaveral in Florida in advance of the hurricane.
