Heat Wave, Wind Prompt Red Flag Alert For Brush Fire Danger On South Coast

A heat wave is bringing high brush fire danger to the South Coast.

A Red Flag Alert is in place for the Ventura County, and Southern Santa Barbara County mountains, with extreme heat and gusty wind upping the potential for serious fires. The wind is expected to ease tomorrow, but temperatures will again be in the mid-90’s, to as high as 108 for some of our inland areas.

The high pressure responsible for the heat wave is expected to break down this weekend, with a return of the marine layer, and substantial cooling starting on Sunday.
