Groundwater availability has become a major concern in a remote area of northeastern Santa Barbara County which borders three other counties.
The issue is future groundwater supplies for the Cuyama Valley.
On Thursday night, officials with Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties will join with the Cuyama Community Services District to hold a workshop looking at the concern. There’s a proposal calling for the four counties and the district to form what’s known as a Groundwater Sustainability Agency to develop and implement a groundwater management plan.
The public meeting will take place at six p.m. Thursday at Cuyama Elementary School.
