A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department patrol car smashed into an ambulance, leaving four people injured.
The accident happened just after 6 p.m. Saturday, on Calle Real at Old Mill Road in Goleta. The ambulance was taking an injured jail inmate to a hospital. It slowed as a light at an intersection changed from green to yellow, and a deputy following behind in a patrol car rear-ended the ambulance.
The deputy was injured, as were two medical team members, and a second deputy in the ambulance.
