Founder Of Non-Profit Art Museum In Ventura County Dies

The founder and longtime board member for a South Coast museum has died.

Michael Yee was a businessman, and restaurant owner who loved the arts.

Yee formed a non-profit group in 2008 to open a glass and sculpture museum in the Conejo Valley. He put up $75,000 dollars of his own money to get the idea started, but then joined forces with others in the community to support the creation of a regional art museum. The result is the California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks.

A memorial service has been planned for November 19th at Calvary Community Church in Thousand Oaks. Yee was 79 years old.
