Former U.S. Second Lady, Pioneer Judge To Receive Honorary Doctorates From South Coast University

Tipper Gore to receive honorary doctorate from Cal State Channel Islands

A South Coast university announced that it will honor the former Second Lady of the United States at its commencement ceremonies this year.

Tipper Gore will receive an honorary doctorate from Cal State Channel Islands during the May 19th ceremonies.

She served as Second Lady with her husband, Al Gore, from 1993 to 2001. Gore is a former photojournalist, and author who is a mental rights advocate. She now lives part-time in Santa Barbara.

Meanwhile, Cal State Channel Islands will also honor Ventura County Supervisor Court Judge Michele Castillo with an honorary doctorate. Castillo is the first Latina to serve as a Superior Court judge.
