The Central and South Coasts are seeing some of the highest influenza death numbers in decades.
13 flu related deaths are being reported in Ventura County, 10 in San Luis Obispo County, and six in Santa Barbara County. Health officials say the dominant flu strain locally is influenza A, or H3N2.
They say you should get a flu shot, stay home if you get sick, and if you need medical care, and head to your personal physician. ER’s have been swamped by the flu, and officials say you should only go there if it’s a potentially life threatening situation.
