Flareup In Thomas Fire Causes 101 Shutdown Near Faria Beach

As the Thomas Fire continues to burn, with 96,000 acres scorched and at 5% containment, a flareup between the 101 freeway and the old coast highway near the homes in Faria Beach has caused the freeway to be shut down.

KCLU's Lance Orozco is reporting that as of 11 a.m. traffic was stopped on the southbound side as firefighters sought to contain the blaze, calling in air support as they tried to suppress the flames.

The flames have made it to the coast highway and are igniting dry palm trees and scrub in the area.

Ventura County Fire Officials have said that some duplexes are being threatened in the area as well.
