Firefighters Have Upper Hand On Brush Fire Near Ventura-Los Angeles County Line

Firefighters have the upper hand on a brush fire which has been burning near the Ventura-Los Angeles County line, but it could still be another day or two before it’s fully contained.

The fire started at around 5 p.m. Saturday north of Lake Piru, in the Los Padres National Forest.

At one point, the fire was estimated to be around 130 acres, but more precise mapping led to the number being downsized to around 60 acres. The fire is in a remote area, with no structures reported damaged.

Andrew Madsen, with the U.S. Forest Service, says at its peak, more than 300 people were involved in battling the blaze. The number is now down to around 40. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
