Final Preparations Underway For Former First Lady Nancy Reagan's Funeral In Ventura County

Preparations being finalized for Nancy Reagan's funeral; massive tent in place in case of rain

Final preparations are underway for Friday's funeral for former First Lady Nancy Reagan, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

A thousand people are expected to be on hand for the private funeral ceremony of the former First Lady

"There's everything from choirs and military bands, and some terrific speakers, and a lot of VIP types", said Reagan Foundation Executive Director John Heubush.

The list of those taking part in the ceremony includes the Reagans daughter, Patty Davis,  Tom Brokaw, and Diane Sawyer.

Former President George W. Bush, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton are also expected to attend.

The ceremony will include some local elements, including performances by the Santa Susana High School Choir.

One of the big questions right now is whether a storm headed our way will arrive during the ceremony.

Heubush says if it does, they’re prepared.

"In the event that it does rain during the service, the good news is we've got a massive tent. I think we'll be fine, rain or shine," said Heubush.

Following the service, Mrs. Reagan will be buried next to Ronald Reagan on the scenic overlook behind the presidential library.
