Evacuation Orders Lifted For Santa Barbara County

Santa Barbara County public safety officials have lifted all evacuation orders as of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in burn areas, saying that the locally heavy rainfall in the forecast didn't materialize. Showers are expected through the day today, but rainfall rates are expected to be below the level which could trigger flash flooding, or mudslides.

Mandatory evacuations went into effect at 8 p.m. Monday night for some potentially high risk areas near waterways in burn zones.

County officials caution that evacuations could become necessary again later this week, with additional storms in the forecast for Wednesday night and possible late Thursday, or Friday. Highway 101 remained open during the course of the showers, but Highway 192 was closed from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara,
