A military missile test launch is planned for the Central Coast early Tuesday morning.

The Air Force is planning to launch an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base during a launch window which runs from 12:01 to 6:01 a.m.

It’s the latest in a series of launches which Air Force officials say are important to test equipment reliability, and crew readiness. In a press release, officials say the test is not related to any real world events, with launches usually taking place a few times a year.

The last Minuteman III launch from the base was in May.
