Death Of Ventura County Jail Inmate Under Investigation

Authorities hope an autopsy will unravel the mystery behind the death of a Ventura County jail inmate.

Deputies at the County’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility noticed early Saturday morning that Keith Welbourne was unresponsive, and not breathing in his cell. Deputies and jail medical staff tried to revive him.

The 31 year old Moorpark man was then taken to a Ventura hospital. But, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead. Jail officials say there are no indications that foul play was a factor in the inmate’s death.
