Controversy Continues At Central Coast University Over Actions Involving Fraternity

More than a thousand students attended a forum with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo administrators Thursday night as outrage continues over an incident in which some members of a fraternity acted like they were gang members, and one dress in blackface.

Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong apologized to the crowd, saying that this is not what people should expect from the university.

Cal Poly officials say they are investigating last weekend’s incident involving the Lambda Chia Alpha fraternity, but some people say the university should have already moved to discipline students.

The university placed the fraternity on suspension, as did the national organization for the fraternity. Thursday, all of Cal Poly’s fraternities voluntarily put themselves on probation, and suspended most social events.
