Community Meetings Set On State Program To Help Thomas Fire Victims Fast Track Removal Of Debris

One of the Ventura homes lost in the first night of the Thomas Fire, on December 4th

Two community meetings are set for this week on a state sponsored program to fast track debris removal from buildings destroyed, or damaged by the Thomas Fire.

The CalRecycle program allows qualified fire victims to have debris cleared with no upfront costs, with the state being reimbursed directly from insurance. Ventura County and the City of Ventura are both participating in the program, which cuts through the traditional permitting process.

People can get details on how the program works, and the paperwork they need to file at the community meetings. The two meetings will take place at Ventura Baptist Church, with the first one at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the second at 11 a.m. Saturday.
