City Of Ventura Looks At Plan To Help Thomas Fire Victims Who Lost Homes

Flames from the Thomas Fire moving through Ventura early on the morning on December 5th

The City of Ventura is looking at taking a number of emergency steps to help residents who lost their homes to the massive Thomas brush fire.

More than 500 homes in the city were destroyed by the 282,000 acre inferno.

The proposals range from letting people temporarily live in RV’s on site, to clearing the way for people to rebuild homes in the same footprints even if they don’t conform to current planning ordinances. The goal is to streamline the process so people can start rebuilding as soon as possible.

The Ventura City Council will look at the plan when it meets Monday night.
