A Central Coast university continued its tradition of winning big honors at the Rose Parade in Pasadena, with its 70th anniversary float in the New Year’s Day tradition.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo students once again teamed up with Cal Poly Pomona students to build a parade float.

The 2018 entry was called “Dreams Take Flight.” The 18 by 54 foot long float featured three giant animated animal characters flying planes. The float featured more than 10,000 roses, plus tens of thousands of other flowers.

It won the 2018 “Past Presidents” award from the Tournament of Roses.
