Central Coast Burglary Suspects Caught With Electronics, Laptops, And Stolen Dog

A routine traffic stop by a police officer on the Central Coast led to the arrest of a couple investigators say was responsible for a string of burglaries in which they took everything from computers to a puppy dog.

A number of fraternities, sororities, and dorm rooms near Cal Poly San Luis Obispo were burglarized during the last few weeks.

A Pismo Beach police officer stopped a car for a traffic issue on Monday. The officer recognized a man in the vehicle from a surveillance camera photo from one of the burglaries. The officer also discovered Christopher Jones of Oakland had a pending warrant for his arrest.

A search of the vehicle turned up laptops and other electronics reported stolen from San Luis Obispo, as well as a stolen puppy dog. Jones and the car’s driver, Veronica Weitz, were arrested on burglary charges.
