A violent crash on Highway 166 between Santa Maria and Cuyama took the lives of two children Monday afternoon.
Six others were injured.
The collision on the two lane highway closed the roadway briefly as the Labor Day commute was wrapping up.
The cause of the crash, which involved a sedan and SUV, is under investigation.
Both a CALSTAR and a sheriff's helicopter were called in to transport three victims to Santa Barbara's Cottage Hospital, two victims were transported via ambulance to Marian Medical center in Santa Maria, and another was treated at the scene.
