Camarillo Will Use Refunded Money From Failed Fourth Of July Show To Double Fireworks Next Year

A South Coast city which had to cancel its Fourth of July fireworks show due to a technical failure confirms it won’t do a make-up show, but says it will use its refunded money to double its fireworks budget for 2017.

Thousands of people were left disappointed, and upset when a problem with the electrical firing system forced cancellation of the City of Camarillo’s show at Camarillo High School. The failure couldn’t be fixed on the spot, and safety restrictions prohibit the hand triggering of the pyrotechnics.

City officials say the contractor, Exposhows of Santa Monica, is returning the $25,000 show deposit, which will be added to next year’s show budget. People who bought tickets for this year’s show can get refunds at Camarillo City Hall through August 5th.
