Brush Fire Danger Continues In South Coast During This Heat Wave

NOAA

The continuing heat wave, mixed with other weather conditions across the South Coast, is ripe for wild fire danger.

Red flag warnings are in effect for Southern Santa Barbara County and the Ventura County mountains on Saturday.

"We have the high pressure in place, and that's created warm and dry conditions across the area," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Todd Hall. "When that combines with the wind, that creates the critical fire conditions we've had the last couple of days as well as some of the excessive heat warnings we've had as well."

In fact, smoke from a large brush fire in Santa Clarita, just north of Los Angeles, has reached parts of Ventura County. It’s burning under hot weather conditions.

That scorching heat will continue on Saturday for the South Coast with highs in the 90s and in triple digits for some inland areas. Things are expected to cool down on Sunday.
