Fire on Santa Cruz Island as seen from Ventura County

A 20 acre brush fire is burning on one of the Channel Islands, and could clearly be seen from some Ventura and Santa Barbara County coastal communities.

The blaze was reported at about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon on Santa Cruz Island, in an area near the Nature Conservancy Ranch.

Yvonne Menard, with the National Park Service, says it's believed it was triggered by embers from a previous planned burn pile.

The National Park Service brought in U.S. Forest Service firefighters, and air tankers to help battle the blaze.  No structures are reported to be in danger.
