Breakfast At Popular Ventura Restaurant Almost Like Group Therapy As People Talk About Thomas Fire

Smoke from the Thomas Fire along the coast west of Ventura December 6th

Even as firefighters work to get control of the massive Thomas brush fire, thousands of people in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties are struggling to cope with the physical and emotional impacts of the inferno.

From lost homes, to ongoing evacuations, and the trauma of having to flee from the inferno, there are lots of stories coming from the flames.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco takes us to a popular local restaurant in Ventura where conversation about the fire is as normal as coffee and toast being served.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
