Bill By Ventura County Congresswoman To Help Veterans With Disabilities Get Jobs Takes Step Forward

Legislation by a congresswoman from Ventura County to help veterans with disabilities find jobs has passed a key hurdle.

The House of Representatives passed HR 5452, which extends the window for veterans with service related disabilities to be eligible for the VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program. Currently, there is a 12 year time limit on eligibility.

Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village authored the bill. She says veterans who completed the program earned on average $18,000 dollars more a year than those who didn’t go through it.

The legislation now goes to the Senate for consideration.
