Bill To Try To Close Gun Ownership Loophole Introduced By State Senator From Ventura, LA Counties

A State Senator from Ventura and Los Angeles Counties is sponsoring a proposed new law to try to close a loophole in gun ownership laws.

Under current law, people convicted of violent offenses are prohibited from owning firearms. But, if a convicted juvenile offender has their records sealed due to good behavior, it closes the documents which could be used to ban weapons ownership.

SB 1281 by State Senator Henry Stern of Canoga Park tries to tackle the concern. It would allow the tracking of violent convicted juvenile offenders to insure even if their records are later sealed, they can’t legally own weapons.
