12,000 Pounds Of Fish Headed For Lake Cachuma Fishing Derby This Weekend

At Cachuma Lake, the enthusiasm is high even as the lake level remains low. The lake still hasn't recovered from the drought and remains under 40% capacity and dropping.

Despite that bleak outlook, this Saturday and Sunday will host the annual fishing derby, with $5000 in prizes.

In recent weeks, fishing enthusiasts have been warming up; the Santa Barbara County Parks Department says that it's planted 12,000 pounds of fish for the event.

Typically the catch includes crappie, bass, trout, catfish and carp.
