Jeff Kaufman

Substitute News Host

Jeff is a Journalism lecturer at California State University, Long Beach. He also produces and anchors the award-winning Hi-Definition News. Previously, he taught at his alma mater, USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Jeff’s career began at LA’s all news stations, KNX and KFWB. He also co-founded an all news station in Orange County. After two decades in television, he returned to radio in 2008 as co-producer and co-host of a daily live webcast that offered recession survival strategies: The Homecast Show: The Upside to Down Times.

Jeff has worked in off-camera roles at LA channels 2, 4, 9, 11 and 28. For three years he was broadcast producer of CBS’ Entertainment Tonight and he has numerous TV producing credits for nonfiction series and specials.

In 2011, he was technical adviser to season one of HBO’s The Newsroom.
          
Jeff’s work has been honored with news Emmys, Golden Mikes, and awards from The Associated Press and The Los Angeles Press Club.
          
He was lured into broadcasting by his USC roommate, KCLU News Director Lance Orozco.
